Annalese “Maste Win” Red Shirt was born on February 6, 1980 in Denver, CO to Theresa Merdanian and Charlie Fish. Annalese made her journey to the Spirit World on January 25, 2022 in Rapid City, SD.

Anna was a ‘Grandma’s Girl’ who later grew up in the country of Eastern Oklahoma surrounded by a loving family and was raised in the church.

 Anna was also blessed to live in Hot Springs, SD where she was involved in many school activities. She played the clarinet and made first chair, which was a true accomplishment for her. She was a cheerleader, participant in the Knowledge Bowl, Odyssey of the Mind, and an Acolyte for the Episcopal Church.

Anna bravely enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and completed her basic training in Parris Island, SC. She returned home on a medical discharge, but always remained loyal to her country.

Upon returning home to the Black Hills, Anna had her children and made her life in Hot Springs. She had many friends and different jobs in her life. She was very proud of the fact that she began her higher education at the Oglala Lakota College in Wanblee, SD.

Anna eventually moved with her family to Rapid City where she maintained her faith in the Lord and stayed an active member of her community. To know her was to love her.

Anna leaves behind her children, who will miss their mother tremendously – Samuel Jacob Red Shirt, Layla Caroline Red Kettle, and Riley Stone Red Shirt of Rapid City; her parents – who she loved with all her heart – Teresa Merdanian of Rapid City and Charlie Fish Jr of Glenpool, OK; and her sisters – who truly were her best friends – Carlie (Jason) of Sioux Falls, SD, Kimmie (Shane) of Kyle, SD, Kayce (Nick), Randee (Larry), and Maryn, All of Rapid City;

She also leaves behind her brothers Richard Trimble of Spanaway, WA and John Trimble of Rapid City; and her nephews and nieces – with whom she had a unique bond – nephews Joseph Kaine, Aspen Louis Martinez, Zachariah Lee Richards Jr, Morgan Lee Richards, and nieces Grace Anna Eagle, Mariah Danyel Martinez, Mckinzee Lee Richards, Gabriella April Zimiga, Kadence Raine Weston, Aaliyah Raelynn Eagle Bull, and Sophia Rae Eagle Bull.

Waiting to welcome Annalese home are her grandparents Grace Red Shirt, Anna (Cobble) and Charlie Fish Sr; and her beloved niece Morning Star Weston.

Pallbearers will be Jeremiah Moreno, Samuel Red Shirt, Riley Red Kettle, Gracie Eagle, Joseph Kaine, Aspen Louis, and Layla Caroline Red Kettle.

Honorary pallbearers will be all friends & relatives.

Arrangements entrusted with Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge.
