    Dawes County Attorney/Coroner Vance Haug says a northern Colorado man working in rural Chadron died Monday night or Tuesday morning of an apparent suicide.Â
49-year old Mauro Velazquez of Greeley was part of an environmental services crew doing restoration work on Bordeaux Creek east of Chadron.
After Velazquez failed to appear for work Tuesday, his co-workers found his truck in a rural area with his body nearby.
Haug, who was contacted along with the Dawes County Sheriff’s Office and Nebraska Game and Parks about 9:30 am, says that a review of the scene, physical evidence, witness interviews, and an autopsy pointed to suicide.
Haug says the investigation is continuing by the Nebraska State Patrol, which was called to the scene later in the morning,
