Time is running out for residents of western Nebraska to apply for a vacancy on the NPPD – Nebraska Public Power District – board of directors.
Governor Jim Pillen has set this coming Monday as the deadline and hopes to fill the seat shortly after that.
Subdivision 5 Director Charlie Kennedy.of Scottsbluff resigned last month with just under 2 years left in his 6-year term. Subdivision 5 covers all or part of 21 counties in the western half of the state including all 11 in the Panhandle.
Those interested in the seat can apply through the Governor’s Boards and Commissions portal or in writing to the Office of the Governor.
Applicants for the position must live within Subdivision 5 and get their electricity from NPPD, either as a direct retail customer or as customer of a utility or city that buys at least some of its wholesale power from NPPD.
