It was a rather business-like effort for area athletes at the Bayard B-C-D Invite on Friday.
Chadron’s Quinn Bailey won the 100m (11.26), Malachi Swallow placed 1st in the 200m (22.59) with Rhett Cullers 2nd (22.96). Xander Provance captured gold in the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.82, followed by Cullers with a 15.50.
Crawford’s Ty Brady placed 1st in the 800m in a clip of 2:04.5 and took 2nd in the 400m (53.79).
Brooklyn Hoffman was the Chadron girls only gold medal winner, taking the 100m hurdles with a 16.41. Crawford’s Kylah Vogel won the 400m (1:02.08) with Chadron’s Demi Ferguson right behind in 2nd (1:02.89). Vogel placed 2nd in the 300m hurdles (50.21) and the Chadron 4x800m relay team placed 2nd (10:51.42)
The Gordon-Rushville boys had a stellar day at the Valentine Invite, snagging 7 gold medals. The Lady Mustangs were just as productive on the track, earning 5 of their own 1st place finishes.
Jace Freeseman both the 200m (23.00) and 400m (51.34). Gregory Johns swept the 1600m (4:42.23) and 3200m (10:41.73). Franklin Johns placed 1st in the 800m (2:00.47).
Aydon McDonald won the 300m hurdles (40.08) and the Mustang 4x100m relay team walked away with the win.
Haley Johnson was the only Gordon-Rushville girl who pulled off double gold, winning the 400m (1:04.29) and long jump (14’8.75”). McKinley Grover cleared the rest of the field in the discus with a toss of 123’ 3.25”.
Lainey Fillmore claimed the 100m title with a time of 14.05 and the Lady Mustang 4x800m (10:39.80) relay also snagged gold.
District meets begin on Tuesday with Chadron at the B-6 meet in Ogallala. The Class D district meets are on Wednesday and Class C competes on Thursday.
