At Least One Hunter Fatality In Deer Season Opening Weekend

Nebraska’s firearm deer season opened Saturday and there was at least one fatal accident, although few details have been released on the death in the southeastern corner of the state.

The Pawnee County Sheriff’s Office says that 23-year-old Kade Reiman of Weeping Water, a 2nd-grade teacher in the Palmyra-Bennet School District, was accidentally shot while hunting with another person Saturday morning southwest of Lewiston.

Lewiston is about 20-miles east of Beatrice.

Sheriff Braden Lang says Reiman was pronounced dead at the scene of the shooting, but gives no other details about how the shooting occurred – saying only that the investigation is ongoing
