Avs Sign Goalie, Hold On To Three Others

On the first day of free agency in the NHL, the Colorado Avalanche were busy re-signing players and adding a goalie.

Forward’s Artturi Lehkonen and Darren Helm, and defenseman Josh Mason all re-upped with the Avs. They also brought back goaltender Jonas Johansson who was waived early last season and ended up in Florida for the remainder of the year.

New faces signed on Tuesday include defensemen Josh Jacobs and Andreas Englund along with forward Charles Hudon for one year deals and a two year contract with forward Spencer Smallman.

The man in the net for the Avs Stanley Cup victory, Darcy Kuemper, inked a 5-year $26.5-million contract with the Washington Capitals.
