Back & Forth Night Gives Chadron Split At Alliance

It was a night of back and forth games between Chadron and Alliance on Friday night.

The Chadron girls went on a 11-2 run to start the 4th quarter to flip a 36-34 deficit into a 45-38 lead and held off the Bulldogs 51-46. The Cards were aided by an 8-of-13 performance at the free throw line over the final eight minutes.

Behind a trio of three’s, Jaleigh McCartney led all scorers with 12 points to give Chadron to 5th win in their last 6 games.

The Chadron boys went up 20-13 on Alliance early in the 2nd quarter only to see the Bulldogs build a 15-point 3rd quarter lead and come up short with a late rally 57-52.

Alliance rallied themselves and took a 31-27 lead into the half and grew the margin to 15 in the 3rd quarter, but Chadron started the 4th quarter 14-5 run to pull within four points at 56-52 and had multiple opportunities to cut the deficit further before Alliance held on.

Gage Wild led the Cardinals with 14 points. Xander Provance added 11 and Broc Berry had 10.

Chadron returns home on Tuesday to face Scottsbluff in a game postponed by snow in December.
