Banner County Man Apparent Suicide Victim While Being Served With Arrest Warrant And Protection Order

Loading

Banner County authorities say a man apparently committed suicide Monday morning in Harrisburg while the county was trying to serve him with an arrest warrant and a protection order.

County Attorney Mark Kovarik has asked the Nebraska State Patrol to investigate the death of 62-year old Kevin Wynne of Harrisburg.

State Patrol spokesman Cody Thomas says Sheriff Stanley McKnight told investigators that he went to Wynne’s home a little after 6:00 AM and while he was at the front door trying to contact him, Wynne ran out the back door.

McKnight said he then heard two gunshots, went around the house to investigate, and found Wynn near a corral, dead of an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound.

A grand jury will be called to investigate the death as well. Nebraska law requires a grand jury any time a death occurs when a person is in custody or in the process of being arrested, including during pursuits.

  1. Sorry for your loss my condolences for the family. I worked with Kevin at a few different construction companies. He was a good friend showed me a lot on a dozer. Rest in peace my brother.

  2. Absolutely a sad situation. Is Sheriff Stanley McKnight, part of the banner county sheriffs department? Hope he is because if he’s not, the sheriff was out of his jurisdiction but I’m sure you guys all have your loopholes to do whatever you want to people. Because that badge changes people.
