Best Of The West Business Invitational Back After Virtual Year

Students from 5 western Nebraska high schools are at Chadron State College today for the 5th annual Best of the West Business Invitational.

Co-sponsored by the school and the Nebraska Council on Economic Education, the competition is intended to prepare the students for similar contests this spring at the FBLA, Future Business Leaders of America, State Leadership Conference this spring.

COVID-19 forced last year’s Best of the West to be held virtually, which attracted schools and competitors from across the state with nearly 200 students from 25 high schools taking part.

This year’s face-to-face event has drawn just 78 students from Chadron, Alliance, Hay Springs, Hemingford, and Valentine.

Areas of competition include Accounting, Business Calculations, Business Communications, Economics, Introduction to Business, Introduction to FBLA, Introduction to Financial Math, Job Interview, Marketing, and Personal Finance.

The competition is this morning, followed by a lunch and panel discussion featuring CSC students in the Student Center Ballroom. The awards ceremony at 1:30 wraps up the event.
