Funeral services for 88-year old Iris Wilson are Tues, Feb 1, 2022 at 10:00 at the Potter’s House, west of Pine Ridge, SD, with Jason Brewer & Patrick Ashley officiating.
A meal will follow the services.
Burial follows at the Merrival Cemetery near Slim Buttes, SD, presided over by Father Peter Klink, S.J. and Father Edmund Yainao, S.J.
Celebration of Life will begin Monday, Jan 31, at 3:00, also at the Potter’s House west of Pine Ridge.
Iris (Merrival) Wilson was born on February 25, 1933 in Pine Ridge, SD to Pedro Merrival and Ethel (Ecoffey) Merrival. Iris made her journey to the Spirit World on January 22, 2022 at her home in Porcupine, SD surrounded by her family.
Iris is survived by daughters Susan Grordon of Washington State, Icy Wilson of Porcupine, SD, Barbara Reinhart and Dawn (Sean) Wilson-Deeds both of Washington State; sons Steven Merrival Sr and Lloyd Wilson, both of Washington State, and Garrett Wilson of Rapid City, SD; siblings Joseph “Poker” (Abby Quiver) Merrival, Betty Ann Blain, and Judith Merdaniain; grandchildren Steven & Christian Merrival, Sherry Hallman, Ryan (Nicole Twiss) Schimke, Crystal & Casey Wilson, Sean (Nikki) Brewer, McKensie Paige, and Taylor Merrival; great-grandchildren Tanner Russell, Bryson Merrival, Rylee Schimke, Rocky & Kolt Brewer, Nehemiah, Kristina, and Bryanna; and great-great-grandchild, Laelya Merrival.
Iris was preceded in death by her parents, Ethel (Ecoffey) Merrival and Pedro Merrival; spouses, James Wilson and Jerome Wilson; daughter, Karen Ann Wilson; sister, Dolores Griffen; and brothers, Floyd Merrival, Paul McDaniels, Barton Merrival, Sr., Russell “Rusty” Merrival, Peter “Peachy” Merrival, and Baby Merrival Twins.

I don’t know if this is correct, but I have known Poker Joe for fifty years. My sincere condolences to him and the family. May she rest in peace, may her soul and the souls of all the dearly departed rest in peace. Amen
