Memorial services for 82-year old Beverly “Bev” Stitt of Chadron, NE, are Friday, Dec 17, at 11:00 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Chadron with Pastor Ann Sundberg and Rev Mike McInnis officiating.  

Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery in Chadron.  

Friends may stop by at the church Thurs evening from 4-7:00 when family members will be present.  

Bev always wanted to establish a scholarship fund to help older students with children who wish to return to college as she did. In lieu of flowers, memorials for a scholarship may be made in care of the Chadron State Foundation, POB 1210, Chadron, NE  69337.

Beverly Ann Stitt was born on August 1, 1939 at Holdrege, NE, the daughter of Walter John and Hazel Elaine (Stegeman) Trank. She passed away Sunday evening, December 12, 2021 at the Ponderosa Villa in Crawford.

Bev graduated as Valedictorian of her class in 1956 at the age of 16.  She attended Doane College before being united in marriage to Robert Harold Stitt on Nov 9, 1958.  

They made their home in Chadron and started their family.  She worked numerous jobs before returning to finish her college degree.  She graduated with her degree in Education which began a very long and rewarding career as a teacher.  

She taught several years in the Middle School teaching typing and later moved to the High School, where she taught Business and English classes.  Along the way she received her Masters Degree and spent many summers taking classes to further her education.  

Bev will be remembered for her wonderful humor and dedication to the success and well-being of her students. She was blessed with numerous Teacher of the Year Awards, which always made her feel appreciated.  

She was a longtime member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, where she was active in the choir and church council while also teaching confirmation classes.  

Bev was an avid volunteer, a sorority member, and club participant with the Hooker’s Crochet Group, the Red Hatters, numerous bridge groups, Culture Club, and  RAK (Random Acts of Kindness).

Survivors include her daughter Kathy Jo McInnis and husband Mike of Windom, MN; son Gordy Stitt and wife Trina of Sidney, NE; and five grandchildren: Jennifer Vasquez and husband Sev of Castle Rock, CO; Annie Chen and husband, Adeng of Yamanashi Ken, JAPAN; David McInnis, Omaha, NE; Nathan McInnis, Omaha, NE; and Jill Cunard and husband Cory of Lemars, IA; 

Bev is also survived by great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Joyce Santero of Lakewood, CO;  and many extended family members and friends.
