The Blue Team led the annual Panhandle Prep All-Star Girls Basketball Game for just 78-second Friday night in Scottsbluff, but it was the last 78-seconds as they rallied from down 16 in the 4th quarter for a 78-76.

The game stayed close in the first half with the Reds up 42-34 at intermission. They extended the lead to 74-58 with about 5-minutes to go, but then the Blues went on a 19-0 run – taking the lead on a 3-pointer and never giving it back.

Scottsbluff’s Payton Burda was the MVP and scored 17 points for the Blues, but teammate Catherine Bryner of Alliance had a game high 21.

Marlee Pinnt of Chadron scored 2 and Gordon-Rushville’s Ajae McKimmey had 3 while two other Mustangs, Tess Hurlburt and Reaghan Schultz were shut out.

Only 2 players reached double-figures for the Red as Torrington’s Marissa Morehouse and Daljit Kaur of Burns each had 10.  Sam Toof of Hay Springs contributed 6 and Chadron’s Sophie Wess added 4.

The girls 3-point contest came down to the two former Chadron teammates with Pinnt topping Wess.
