Memorial services for 86-year old Bill Lemen of Chadron, NE, who passed away last October, are Thursday, March 23, 2023 at 10:00 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 747 Ann St in Chadron.

A memorial has been established for the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Chadron or the Donor’s Choice. Donations can be sent to Chamberlain Chapel, PO Box 970, Chadron, Nebraska 69337.

William Erwin Lemen was born December 19th, 1935, to George and Esther Lemen in Eli, NE. He passed away October 19th, 2022, at Chadron Community Hospital.

Bill graduated from Chadron High School, where he played three sports. He was crowned Homecoming King and his girlfriend, Joan Hulseman, Homecoming Queen their senior year. Bill and Joan married June 19th, 1955. To this union was born wo girls: Shauna and Kari.

Bill worked at Safeway, Chicago and NorthWestern Railroad, and Nebraska Public Power District throughout his life.

He enjoyed bowling, playing cards, and dancing in his younger years. Later, he added golfing and gardening. He was especially proud of his roses.

Bill is survived by Joan, his wife of 67 years, his daughters Shauna Sassasman of Chadron and Kari Reher and son-in-law Monty Reher of Boise, Idaho, as well as four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Chamberlain Chapel of Chadron is in charge of arrangements for Bill Lemen.

  1. Willie and Joan were the sweethearts of the CHS Class of 1954. 67 years of marriage is a wonderful legacy. Deepest sympathy to Joan and the family. Sincerely Carroll and George Dinse

  2. I worked with Bill at NPPD for several years. He was a great co-worker, very conscientious. He is missed by many. His rose garden was something to see.

    I knew Bill when he lived in Chadron and then I worked with him when the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad closed in Chadron and he transfered to Morrill, NE. He was a great employee and a joy to work with. He will be missed. Our condolences to his family.
