Car-Semi Collision East Of Alliance Claims 3 Lives Including Hyannis Couple

     A head-on collision between a car and a semi east of Alliance Tuesday morning killed 3 people, including a Hyannis couple.

        Pronounced dead at the scene on Hwy 2 about 9:45 am were 57-year old Julie Sears of Santa Rosa, Calif, and 82-year old Gary Sears and 79-year old Joan Sears, both of Hyannis.

      Gary and Joan Sears were married more than 50 years with Gary Sears a retired veterinarian who practiced in Hyannis for more than 40 years

       The Nebraska State Patrol and the Box Butte County Sheriff’s Office were notified of the crash several miles east of Alliance about 9:45 am.

      Preliminary investigation indicates the car driven by Julie Sears was westbound on Hwy 2 when it crossed the centerline and hit the eastbound semi driven by 37-year old Erich Rumple of Spencer, NE. Rumple was treated at the scene for minor injuries.]

       Also responding to the accident were the Alliance Police Department and the Alliance Volunteer Fire Department. 

      The investigation remains ongoing with the  Nebraska State Patrol conducting a full crash reconstruction.
