Cardinals Make History At Western Conference Meet

The Chadron boys 4x100m meter relay team of Quinn Bailey, Xander Provance, Malachi Swallow and Rhett Cullers made school and conference history on Friday at the Western Conference meet as they ran away with the title in a record time of 43.43 seconds. The previous school record was set in 1999.

The same four also won the 4x400m relay in a clip of 3:30.59.

The Cardinals cleaned up in the hurdles as well as Provance (14.59), Cullers (14.97) and Swallow (15.96) went 1, 2 and 3 in the 110m hurdles. Swallow captured the 300m hurdles with a 40.83 with Cullers right behind with a 42.22.

Provance and Bailey placed 2nd and 3rd in the long jump with leaps of 20’2.25” and 19’ 2”.

The Chadron girls 4x800m relay team of Makinley and Macaiah Fuller, Jazzy Munyiri and Beau Behrends won conference gold with a time of 10:57. Kyndall Carnahan took 2nd in both the 1600m and 3200m with her times of 5:57.68 and 13:13.8.

The 4x100m relay team consisting of Makinley Fuller, Reece Ritterbush, Brooklyn Hoffman and Grace Pyle was 3rd with a 53.94. The 4×400 that included Pyle, Ritterbush, Macaiah Fuller and Demi Ferguson also crossed 3rd with a 4:23.08.

Third place finishers on the girls side include Hoffman in the 100m hurdles (16.56) and Ritterbush in the 300m hurdles (51.08). Olivia Lyon’s toss of 32 ‘2” in the shot put earned bronze as did Raylie Pourier’s throw of 87 ‘7” in the discus.

Pyle cleared 4’ 11” in the high jump for third and Addison Morrison’s leap of 31’ 4.5” in the triple jump garnered 3rd.

The Cardinal girls finished runner-up to Sidney and the Chadron boys finished 3rd. Up next is the Best of the West meet in Scottsbluff on Tuesday.
