Carla Annette American Horse was born on August 13, 1975 to Eugene and Barbara American Horse in Pine Ridge, SD. Carla made her journey to the Spirit World on Dec 17. 2023 at the Gordon Nursing Home.
Carla lived most of her life in Gordon and graduated from Gordon High School in 1993. She worked at Countryside Care as a CNA and in 1994 met James Hollow Horn.
Carla and James had 8 children: Shania Hollow Horn, Devonte Hollow Horn, Aryonna Hollow Horn, Chayton Hollow Horn, Leilani Hollow Horn, Lushea Hollow Horn, Lovely Hollow Horn, and Lafosliana Hollow Horn.
Carla enjoyed spending time with her elderly friends at Countryside Care while taking care of them. She was loved by many for the way she always helped when she could.
She was also loved for the many crazy conversations she had with her nieces and cousins. There was never a dull moment when Carla was around – you were always laughing.
Carla is survived by her father Eugene American Horse; sisters Josephine Ramos, Kayla American Horse, Nichole American Horse, and Jessica American Horse; brothers Alfonso American Horse, Mike Lovejoy, and Aaron American Horse; uncles George American Horse, Hokus American Horse, Jerry No Leaf, Neal No Leaf, and John No Leaf; aunts Josephine Richards, Alice Sierra, and Marie No Leaf; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Carla was preceded in death by her mother Barbara American Horse; paternal grandparents Eugene & Dorothy American Horse; maternal grandparents Noah & Agnes No Leaf; daughters Renee Dawn and Alyssa; aunts Marcene Yellow Hair, Sandra Charging Thunder, and Geraldine Lanz; and uncles Jarvis No Leaf, and James No Leaf.
Pallbearers will be Daelaquen Garnette, Juan Ramos, Enrique Ramos, Ramona “Mona Man” Clifford, Darrell Bear Eagle, and Duffy Grass.
