Funeral services for 66-year old Carla Montileaux are Thurs, Jan 27, 2022 at 10:00 at the Little Wound House of Prayer in Kyle, SD, with Lay Minister Mona Vocu officiating.
A one-night wake service starts Wed, Jan 26, at noon at the Little Wound House of Prayer in Kyle.
Cremation will follow the services with burial at a later date.
Carla Yvette Montileaux was born on July 5, 1955 in Pine Ridge, SD to Martin Capone White and Myra (Janis) Allen. Carla made her journey to the Spirit World on January 18, 2022 at the Monument Health Hospital in Rapid City, SD.
Carla attended Oglala Community High School and got her GED. She was a caregiver for her siblings, children, grandchildren, nephews and nieces.
She worked as a cook for the Foster Grandparents and youth at the Oyate Youth Center in Kyle, SD. She had a big heart and loved everyone. If she loved you, you knew it.
Carla loved good music and was an ace frybread maker. She made frybread during the Sturgis Rally a few years when Darlene and Greg had a stand at the Back Porch. Her frybread became famous among bikers.
Carla is survived by her husband of 46 years, Moses Montileaux; children, Colin White, Carlene White, Moses, Jr., Bernie Joe, Brooke, April, Alex and Whisper Montileaux; siblings, Mike White, George McBride, Darlene (Greg) McBride, Stephanie Romero and Heather (Troy) Allen; stepfather, Tom (Michele) Allen.
Carla was preceded in death by her parents, Martin White and Myrna (Janis) Allen; daughter, Brandy; grandparents, Bernard Janis, Cornelia (Hunter) Janis, and Martin White, Sr.; brothers, Louie McBride and David McBride; and dear friends, Ashley Cottier and Pearl Clausin.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Returns, Derek Winters, Brandon Winters, Michael White, James Winters and Silence Apple.
Honorary pallbearers will be Sheralda Montileaux & family, Delphene Bullman & family, Connie, Donna, and Cindy Hornbeck & families, Carol Blue Bird & family, Grace Rooks & family, Betty Bull Bear & family, Myreen & Ronnie Ferguson & family Edwin & Kennita Fire Thunder & family, Carrie Ferguson & family, Ambrose “Butch” Martinez & family, Arnell Brown Bull & family, Marvin Apple & family, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and All Friends & Relatives.
