Celebrate Agriculture – And More – At The Crawford Cattle Call

The 9th annual Crawford Cattle Call is today from 11-4:00 in downtown Crawford, and organizers think it may be the biggest and best yet.

Several blocks of downtown Crawford are closed to traffic today for the event.

Co-founder and driving force behind the Cattle Call is area native Sam Dyer.

She says the original idea was to create a fall event in Crawford to celebrate agriculture, especially local farmers and ranchers.

Dyer says the Cattle Call has expanded beyond its original focus.

Dyer says today’s centerpiece is, as always, the cattle pen-of-3 competitions, but other activities include livestock judging, hay bale decorating, a Cornhole tournament, a Photo Contest, stagecoach rides, commercial vendors, and especially vendors.

Several of the food options are fundraisers for various local groups, headlined by a steak feed.

This year’s Crawford Cattle Call was funded in part by a grant from the Dawes County Travel Board.
