Celia Mary Stacy was born August 9, 1937 in Leigh, Lancashire, England to Anne and Patrick Irwin and passed away on November 14, 2022 in Chadron.

Celia grew up in Northern Great Britain, the daughter of Irish immigrants. She was the middle sister of 3, and had an older, adopted brother.

Celia was a bookworm and very studious. She did play on two championship all girls Cricket teams in Secondary School and the plaques from those seasons were displayed proudly in our home.

She moved to the United States in 1957 and at the urging of her sister Pat, traveled to California, where she met a young USAF Airman named Stan Stacy. They would marry in January 1958, the start of a 46 year love story that included having 4 children, all 13 months apart.

After graduating from Chadron State College and getting her U-S Citizenship in 1976, she embarked on a 20 year career with Nebraska Job Service, securing employment for hundreds of people over the years.

Celia loved to travel and did so every chance she got, visiting Spain, Morocco, Austria, France, Belize, Panama, Australia and New Zealand, to name but a few.

She also loved playing bridge with her dear friends in the Catholic Ladies Bridge Club.

She is survived by her children Theresa Chambers (Perry), Melody Sandona, Cathy Halstead (Jon), and Patrick Stacy (Shawna); 8 grandchildren: Leigh, Jake, Cory, Chelsea, Chance, Nick, Griffin and Attilio’ and great-grandchildren” Cheyenne, Tyler, Riley and Jayleen.

Preceding her in death were her beloved husband Stan, grandson Tucker, sisters Pat and Eileen, and brother John.
