The Chadron Platte Valley Bank American Legion Post 12 juniors and seniors took on Gering Tuesday evening. The night was trending towards a split with the Chadron juniors falling while the seniors were up before thunderstorms overcame the Chadron area.
The juniors game got a little wild as the lead changed hands a pair of times along with 17 combined runs being scored. Gering struck first with a solo run in the top of the first. Chadron scored three times in the bottom of the second to grab a two run lead.
Gering pushed four across in the top of the third to gain command of the game as they rolled to an 11-6 win despite the game being tied at five heading into the fourth inning.
Gabe Scoggan had two hits while Tristan Gooder had two runs scored for Chadron in the loss.
The seniors game saw Gering score four in the top of the first putting Chadron in a big hole. That hole did not last for long as Chadron scored the next eight runs through the third inning. Chadron had a runner on with two outs up 8-4 when thunderstorms overcame the Chadron area causing the game to be called.
Tobin Landen, Derek Bissonette and Tayven Jenkins had a pair of hits while Axel Lans had a double.
Next up for Chadron is a trip to Bridgeport on Sunday for a juniors/seniors doubleheader.
