Teala Rose Schaer Onstott, age 77 of Belle Fourche, South Dakota, died on March 30, 2026 at the Garden Hills Assisted Living Center in Spearfish, South Dakota.
Graveside services will be held at Mount Hope Cemetery (6 miles south, 1 mile west, ½ mile south from Gordon) on Saturday, June 20 at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Tom Peppel officiating
Teala Rose Schaer was born March 24, 1949, in Broken Bow, Nebraska. Teala grew up on the family farm, south of Gordon, attended country school, and graduated from Gordon High School. Teala attended cosmetology school, and after receiving her certification and degree, she worked at various salons.
She was united in marriage to Robert “Bob” Kimball, and to this union, two sons were born, Jason and Justin. They later divorced. Teala was also married to Ernie Onstott, and following their marriage, Ernie adopted the two boys. Ernie and Teala later divorced.
Teala had many different types of jobs throughout her life. They included hairstylist, bartender, waitressing, and more. She loved to travel, and the adventure of being on the go.
Teala is survived by her sons, Jason (Tonya) Onstott of Belle Fourche, South Dakota, Justin (Dawn) Onstott of Rapid City, South Dakota; Brother Ben (Barb) Schaer of Gordon, Nebraska; Sister, Verla Schaer of Gordon, Nebraska, 7 grandchildren: Chaz, Justin Jr., Levi, Mriah, Tasha, Tessa, Austin, and 5 great-grandchildren.
