Chadron City Council Meeting

With a short agenda, Chadron Council members met for their first meeting in May.

A few highlights included an application from Fur Trade Days Inc. asking for funds to replace their trailer stage. Kerri Rempp, Northwest Nebraska Tourism Director, said, “The trailer the Bands on Bordeaux are using now is really old and it takes an enormous amount of effort to set up.” Rempp mentioned safety issues as well as the large number of people needed to set the whole stage up. It was also explained that other organizations would be able to use the new trailer such as Bands on Bordeaux and Chadron State College. The council approved the application.

Rosella Tesch, Chadron Library Director, gave the council an update on the temporary moving of the library and the work that went into it. Tesch said the library closed its doors in March, looked for a building, collected volunteers, and started emptying shelves. In reference to the moving, Tesch said it took about two weeks to transfer the 4,900 barcodes to the new, smaller building. Tesch also thanked all the volunteers that made the move possible.

Police week was also proclaimed officially, reminding everyone to thank the men and women who have and are protecting our country.
