Chadron Eliminate From American Legion State Tourney With 5-4 Loss

Loading

The first trip to the Nebraska American Legion Baseball Senior State Tournament in 16 years for Chadron didn’t last long as the FNBO Nationals.

After falling to Wahoo 7-1 on Saturday, the Nationals lost 5-4 to host Pierce on Sunday and were eliminated.

As they had against Wahoo, Chadron scored first against Pierce with Kobe BIssonette delivering a 2-run single in the 2nd to plate Ryan and Quinn Bailey, who’d both walked.

They made it 3-0 an inning later when Broc Berry singled, courtesy runner Bricen Wright stole 2nd, then scored on a single by Jordan Bissonette.

Pierce tied in the 4th when they had 4 hits, 2 walks, 2 Chadron errors, and 4 stolen bases, although the Nats did throw out on would-be base thief.

Pierce went ahead in the 5th, scoring 2 times on just 1 hit, 2 walks, and – for the 2nd straight inning – an errant throw on a steal attempt.

Chadron rallied in the top of the 7 as Quinn Bailey doubled to right and came around on 2 ground outs, but a 3rd ground out ended the game.

In other games yesterday, Ogallala lost its 2nd 1-run game and was eliminated by York 3-2, while Wayne and Plattsmouth remained undefeated. Plattsmouth beat Wahoo 3-2 while Wayne topped Springfield 5-1
