The Chadron girls basketball team saw their season end on Tuesday night in the C1-12 subdistrict semifinals with a 54-35 loss to top seeded Sidney. It was the 3rd meeting between the teams this season, all of which were won by the Red Raiders, but the first two were decided by a combined four points;.
After trailing by 7 after the first quarter, Chadron closed the gap down to three late in the 2nd before Sidney closed the half on an 8-3 run to take a 27-19 lead into intermission.
A 16-6 3rd quarter in favor of Sidney helped break the game open and send the Red Raiders to Thursday’s C1-12 championship against Bridgeport, a 63-29 winner over Gordon-Rushville. It will be a meeting of 23-0 teams.
Demi Fergsuson was the only Cardinal in double figures with 13 points.
Chadron ends the season with a 13-12 record under first year head coach Kelsey Scott. The Cards will say goodbye to nine Seniors off of this year’s squad.
