The Chadron Platte Valley Bank American Legion Post 12 juniors and seniors hosted Torrington last night. A tough night for Chadron saw them fall in both games with the juniors falling 15-0 and the seniors losing 5-3.

The juniors game was tight early with a lone Torrington run on a fielder’s choice being the only marker until the top of the fourth. Standout pitching for both sides shined bright until the top of the fourth where Torrington pushed 14 runs past to get a 15-0 win.

Gabe Scoggan with a double in the bottom of the second provided the only hit for Chadron in the game.

The seniors’ game was tight through with Torrington bringing in solo runs in the top of the first, second and third innings to get ahead. Chadron pitcher Tobin Landen settled in and struck out 10 Torrington batters through five innings of work.

The sixth inning saw a group of runs with Torrington getting the lead up to five with a tri of runs. Chadron came roaring back with three runs but saw the rally cut short with the tying run on base as Torrington took a 5-3 win.

Landen on the mound pitched six innings and allowed three runs while striking out 10 while having three hits including a double in the batters box.

The juniors will be off for six days before heading to Alliance on the 16th while the seniors start their annual College World Series trip with a stop in Ogallala Thursday night before heading east for the weekend.
