Chadron Festival Of Quilts Getting Ready For Friday Opening.

Loading

The Chadron Festival of Quilts is here again, running Friday through Sunday at the Dawes County Fairgrounds Event Center with the theme “Disappearing Blocks.”

While the official opening is tomorrow, spokesman Caroline Brennan says in a very real sense the festival begins today with registration, which runs from 9-1:00. No quilts will be accepted after 1:00.

Brennan encourages everyone with a quilt, whether they made it, bought it, or got it as a gift, to enter it for display so others can enjoy it.

While registration is a busy time, Brennan says the pace of activity will actually pick up once registration ends as hundreds of quilts get hung for display

Brennan says volunteers were busy yesterday setting up the racks the quilts will be going on as well as tables and seating for the various events and activities taking place once the Festival opens its doors to the public.

This year’s featured quilter is Sheridan County native Linda Andersen of Lakeside, who will lead a walking tour of the festival tomorrow at 2:00 and give her featured presentation Saturday at 2:00.

The Chadron Festival of Quilts also has 3 vendors, over a dozen sponsors of door prizes, trunk shows, fabric bingo, a quilt raffle, and a scavenger hunt that runs all weekend.
