With the tip off of basketball season just over two weeks away, the brackets for the annual season opening Western Conference Tournament have been released.
The Chadron girls, coming off of their first season under head coach Eric Calkins, drew the 4th seed and will play 5th seeded Alliance at Scottsbluff High School on Thursday, December 1st at 4:00 pm.
The Cardinals have won 10 straight against Alliance.
Other quarterfinal girls matchups include top seeded Sidney playing Arvada, CO, Gering and Mitchell in a 3 vs. 4 and 2nd seeded Scottsbluff taking on Sterling, CO.
The Chadron boys, who will be under the direction of first year head coach Kyle Sanders, are the 5th seed in their bracket and open with Sterling, CO at 5:30 pm on December 1st also at Scottsbluff High School.
The two teams met in the WCT in 2017, with Sterling pulling out the 68-36 victory.
Scottsbluff is the top seed on the boys side and gets Arvada, CO. In the 3/6 matchup it will be Gering and Alliance. Sidney and Mitchell play in the 2 vs. 7 game.
