The cross country season begins today at the Panhandle Classic at the Scottsbluff Country Club.
The northern Panhandle will be loaded with runners as teams from Chadron, Crawford, Gordon-Rushville and Hay Springs.
The Chadron girls should be primed for a solid season as they were ranked 4th in the Class C preseason Nebraska Cross Country Coaches Association poll released on Wednesday.
The Cards were a top 5 team again at state this season and will have talent from top to bottom.
Sidney led the way in the girls rankings as defending state champs.
The Chadron boys received votes in their poll as well while Fort Calhoun is holding down the top spot.
Races begin at 3:00 pm today.
