Chadron, Gordon-Rushville Split Thrilling Night Of Basketball

It was an exciting night of basketball at the Bird Cage as the Chadron boys and girls split a double header with Gordon-Rushville.

Gordon-Rushville’s Haley Johnson nailed a pair of free throws with 2.1-seconds left in the game to lift the Lady  Mustangs over Chadron 36-34.

Chadron battled back from a halftime deficit to knot the game at 27 after three quarters and then went back and forth in the 4th quarter.

Demi Ferguson led Chadron with 11 points.  Johnson had 17 for Gordon Rushville.

The Chadron boys overcame a 10-point 2nd half deficit to tie Gordon-Rushville at 44 at the end of regulation and then outscored the Mustangs 13-4 to close out overtime and snag the 57-54 win.

Chadron’s Xander Provance had a big night, scoring all 18 of his game high points in the final three quarters.  Brady Daniels had his best night in a Cardinal uniform with a career high 13.

Ellis Livingston dropped in 17 for Gordon-Rushville.

Chadron will host Gering on Saturday with the girls game starting at 5:30.
