Chadron’s boys and girls wrestlers combined to win three gold medals at the Shane Shatto Invite in Douglas on Saturday.
Quinn Bailey stayed unbeaten at 14-0 as he won the 152-lb bracket with pins all the way through the semifinals before holding off Jais Rose of Thunder Basin with a 5-4 decision.
Kenli Boeselager and Addie Diers captured their brackets at 145 and 155-lbs. Boeselager cruised with three pins, all in under a minute while Diers needed a tie breaking win in the semi’s before pulling off the 5-4 decision over Charlie Jackson of Burns/Pine Bluffs in the title match.
Rhett Cullers was runner-up at 170-lbs, falling to Wyatt Trembly of Dubois in 2:18. Taylee Williamson was 2nd in the girls 110-lb bracket, losing by sudden victory to Avianca Guzman of Laramie. Fia Rasmussen also took home silver as she was pinned by Alyse Richarson of Casper Kelly Walsh in 2:28.
Chadron had two more medalists on the girls side. Brooklyn Hoffman was 4th at 120-lbs and Sara Weber was 5th at 170-lbs.
Both Cardinal squads are at Ogallala on Friday and then compete at the Grand Island Northwest tournament next Saturday.
