The Chadron High softball team scored a run in the top of the 5th and 6th innings to come back and beat Alliance 6-5 on Tuesday night.
Josie Downing drove in Meradith Rhembrandt on an RBI single for the winning run in the top of the 6th inning. Downing finished the night 2-for-4 at the plate while Rhembrandt had blasted a three run homer to right in the top of the 4th.
Maci Rutledge was perfect at the plate going 4-for-4 with a run scored. She also tossed a complete game, striking out 3 and giving up 8 hits but no walks.
The win runs the Cardinals record to 4-1, continuing to match the best start since 2013.
An important early season battle is on deck for Chadron next Tuesday at home when they welcome Scottsbluff to Hampton Field.
