Chadron Reminding Residents To Clear Sidewalks

Loading

The Chadron Police Department is reminding all property owners and renters to make sure snow and ice are off their sidewalks for the safety of all pedestrians that utilize them.

Police  Chief Rick Hickstein says he understands the recents storms and extremely cold temperatures have made it difficult to keep sidewalks clear, but that the current and forecasted warmer weather is an opportunity to do so.

A Chadron city ordinance gives landowners and renters until 24 hours after the end of a storm to clear sidewalks, and Chief Hickstein says officers will be contacting people over the next few days about getting that done.

Hickstein encourages property owners and renters to “get ahead of us on this and clear their sidewalks as soon as possible.”

Anyone with questions can call the non-emergency number for the Chadron police 308-432-0510 and ask to speak with any of the officers.
