As expected, the Chadron School Board last night accepted the resignation of board member Maddie Nitsch, effective after the May board meeting, and named Colleen Margetts to fill out the rest of her term – which runs through the end of the year.
Nitsch had chosen not to seek reelection and Margetts is the only non-incumbent among the 3 candidates running for the 3 school board seats on the November ballot.
Board President Boone Huffman says it just makes sense to have Margetts join the board early.
Hoffman says Sandy Roes Montague, the longest-serving current school board member, will serve as a de facto training officer for Margetts, but with the rest of the board all acting as mentors.
Maddie Nitsch was appointed to the Chadron school board in late 2018 to fill out the remaining year-plus of the term of Amanda Bannan, who had resigned. Nitsch then ran for and won a full 4 year term in 2020.
