The Chadron Platte Valley Bank American Legion Post 12 juniors and seniors were off to legendary Modisett Park in Rushville Wednesday night as they took on Sheridan County in a juniors/seniors doubleheader. The night was wild but ended up seeing a split with Sheridan County taking the juniors game 11-10 before Chadron took the seniors game 13-5.

The juniors game started off with an eight spot in the top of the first with the run being capped off by a Haiven Catches grand slam to make it 8-0. Sheridan County was able to work and grind their way back into the game with three runs in the bottom of the second and six in the bottom of the third to tie the game at 10 heading into the final inning. In the bottom of the fourth with two on and one out Sheridan County was able to walk off Chadron to take an 11-10 win.

Catches was responsible for six of the Chadron runs on two hits, one of them being a grand slam while touching home plate three times himself while Kacen Bach drove in two runs.

The seniors game was all Chadron on the heels of outstand pitching by Tayven Jenkins as Chadron won their second straight game with a 13-5 score.

The first runs came in the top of the second when two crossed on a wild pitch. The big blows came in the fourth and fifth innings as Chadron scored five in each to pull away to get the win.

Catches continued catching fire from the juniors game as he scored three times in the seconds game while Gabe Scoggan drove in three runs on a hit.

On the mound, pitcher Tayven Jenkins was spectacular as he carried a no hitter through 4 1/3 innings to get the win.

Next up for Chadron is a trip to Sidney on Saturday afternoon for a juniors/seniors doubleheader.
