A memorial mass for 68-year old Charles Mandelko of Broken Bow, NE, will be held Sat July 6, 2024, at 10:0 at St Patrick’s Catholic Church in Chadron, NE.
Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Chadron.
A Celebration of Life Picnic will then be held at the Chadron State Park Lagoon Shelter, the family will provide hot dogs and hamburgers.
Charles died last November and funeral Services were held Dec 1 at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow.Â

Charles Robert Mandelko, better known as Chuck or Charlie, was born May 12, 1957, in Chadron to Harold and Eunice (Nadobny-Brown) Mandelko. He passed away Nov 26, 2023.
Charles attended and graduated from Chadron High School in 1975. During high school, he worked at Safeway in Chadron as a bagboy, but after high school he worked his way up to Produce Manager.
In 1976 Charles went to work for Burlington Northern Railroad, transferring to Broken Bow in 1978 and stayed with the railroad through its name change to BNSF until retiring in 2016.
Charles enjoyed train memorabilia, cooking in a Dutch oven, hunting, fishing, camping in the great outdoors, and golf in retirement.
Charles was preceded in death by a son Dan in 2020, and his parents Harold and Eunice.
Charles is survived by his significant other Dixie Nielsen of Broken Bow; children Stacy Kleinjan of Hastings, NE; Justin Mandelko of Miller, NE; and Ryleigh Lindstrom of Broken Bow; grandchildren Dana, Alex, Natala, Matthew, Jacob, Kaleb, Brick, and Heather; brothers Don Mandelko of Whitney, NE, and Marty Mandelko of Chadron; and sisters Connie James of Ankeny, IA, and Shelly Mandelko of Tampa, FL.
