Cheyenne Teen Could Face Homicide Charge In Death Of His Significant Other

Loading

A Cheyenne teenager faces a possible homicide charge following the death of his significant other.

19-year old Charles Karn was arrested Friday on charges of aggravated assault, strangulation of a household member, and domestic battery after 19-year old Phoenix Cerenil was injured in an incident early Thursday morning.

Cerenil died at a Cheyenne hospital yesterday afternoon, raising the possibility of homicide charges being filed against Karn.

Cheyenne Police Spokeswoman Alex Farkas says officers responding to a 911 hang-up call at a camper found Cerenil unresponsive with signs of an apparent strangulation.

Karn’s booking sheet says investigators determined that Karn had pushed Cerenil, causing her to fall and hit her head on a table near their bed, knocking her unconscious.

Karn remains in the Laramie County Detention Center on a $25,000 cash bond awaiting a preliminary hearing this coming Friday on the original 3 charges.
