Funeral services for 52-year old Corwin Blacksmith are Saturday, May 11, 2024 at 1:00 at the Makasan Presbyterian Church Hall near Oglala, SD, with traditional Lakota services by Ivis Long Visitor
Cremation will follow the services
A one-night wake service starts Friday, May 10, at 11:00 at Brother Rene Hall in Oglala with evening services at 7:00, then moving to the Makasan Presbyterian Church Hall

Corwin Aloysius Blacksmith “Wanbli Ohitika” was born Oct 28, 1971, in Pine Ridge, SD to Aloysius Blacksmith and Trivean Crow. Corwin made his journey home to the spirit world on May 1, 2024 at his home in Oglala.
Corwin grew up in Oglala and graduated 8th grade from Loneman School in 1985. He graduated high school from Red Cloud in 1990, then went to United Tribes Technical College to learn carpentry. He began working for Oglala Sioux Lakota Housing Authority in 1998.
Corwin leaves behind his children Tasina Helper, Jeremy Blacksmith, Cecil Tobacco, Corey Blacksmith, and Danii Rae Helper; hunka children Malachi Martin, Ariana Titus, and Bailey Waters; goddaughter Ariel Charging Hawk; grandchildren Zayden, Trivean, Archer, Farrah, Jemma, and Oaklyn; his siblings Terry Blacksmith, Cheryle Blacksmith, Lenny (Ellen) Blacksmith, Ronnie (Shauna) Blacksmith, Amanda Blacksmith, and Tyrell Blacksmith; Hunka sister Sunny Rae Ten Fingers; aunts Feleta Two Bulls, Christine Lajtay, Donna Crow, Aurelia Two Crow, Melissa Blacksmith, Elizabeth Morrison-Blacksmith, Julie Blacksmith, Vonna Kills in Water, Sage Blacksmith, Marion Poor Bear, Fedelia Cross, Kay Blacksmith, Lee Blacksmith, and Wilma Thin Elk; and uncles Delayne Blacksmith, Ricky Good Voice Flute, Hunter Blacksmith, and Hugh John Blacksmith.
Corwin was preceded in death by his spouse Shana Helper; parents Aloysius Blacksmith and Trivean Crow; brother Rick Good Weasel; his grandparents Max and Hazel Blacksmith, Lena Fights Bear, and Sam and Jessie Crow; aunts Lorna Blacksmith, Philomine Lakota, Roberta White, Patricia Cordova, Carleen Crow, Larina and Betty Good Voice Flute, Eldean Blacksmith, Vestana Red Ear Horse, Melvina Backs, Mercy Slow Bear, Minerva Blacksmith, Norma Blacksmith, and Florence Cross Dog; uncles Rob Blacksmith, Dale Crow, Sam Two Bulls Sr, Zach Lakota, Pete Blacksmith Jr, Stan Blacksmith, Gearney, Herman, Carl, and Gillard Good Voice Flute, Howard White, Joseph Cordova, and Leonard and Floyd John Walks Out; cousin, Daryl Crow and Tara White; and nieces, Tracey Dreaming Bear and Rayleen Bickerstaff.
