Crawford Closes Season In D2 Quarterfinals

O’Neill St. Mary’s grabbed a 7-0 lead before Crawford cracked the scoring column and kept the Lady Rams at bay with a 36-18 win in the quarterfinals of the D2 girls state basketball tournament at Lincoln North Star High School on Monday night.

The Rams cut it to 7-2 on a Kylah Vogel runner and then again had the deficit at 6 following the first of Carly Lemmon’s four three pointers at 11-5, but the Cardinals took advantage of 2nd chance opportunities to end the half on a 14-6 run for a 25-11 halftime lead.

Crawford’s woes continued over the final 16 minutes as the Rams managed just two 2nd half baskets.

Lemmon had a team high 12 points for Crawford who will finish the season at 20-5.

Mya Hedstrom dropped in 13 for St. Mary’s as they advance to play Humphrey St. Francis in Wednesday night’s semifinals.

Falls City Sacred Heart and Sterling were also winners in class D2 and will meet in the semi’s.

The Rams say goodbye to four Seniors in Paityn Homan, Natalie Barry, Skylar Summers, and Jasmine Dyer.
