The Crawford basketball teams split weekend action with Cody-Kilgore and Lingle-Fort Laramie, with both boys and girls picking up wins over Cody-Kilgore but struggling against LFL.

In the boys’ games, the Crawford Rams fended off a challenge by the Cody-Kilgore Cowboys Friday, holding on to win 63-58 before dropping a 76-27 loss to Lingle-Fort Laramie Saturday.

Crawford raced out to a 19-7 lead against the Cowboys and held a 30-22 advantage at halftime after Cody-Kilgore posted a 15-11 run in the second quarter. The third quarter was a back-and-forth affair, with the Rams managing a tight 21-18 run. Cody-Kilgore flipped the script in the final quarter with an 18-12 run over the Rams, but it wasn’t enough and Crawford took home the win.

Lingle-Fort Laramie controlled Saturday’s contest from the outset, holding the Rams to single digits in each quarter. The Doggers led 43-12 at the midway point and cruised to the 76-27 win.

The Lady Rams jumped out to a 19-8 lead in the opening quarter Friday against the Cowgirls of Cody-Kilgore and held on for a 31-24 edge at halftime in spite of a 16-12 showing in the second period by the Cowgirls. Crawford outpaced the Cowgirls 24-22 in the second half to get the 55-46 victory.

Saturday’s girls’ game was filled with highs and lows for both teams, as Lingle-Fort Laramie went off for a 24-3 lead after one quarter. Things slowed down in the second period, as neither team scored more than eight points, with the Doggers taking a 32-6 lead into halftime. Crawford returned after the break and put up 29 points in the third quarter while LFL added 19 to the board for a 51-35 advantage. After the hot third quarter, neither team was able to score in the fourth for a two-sided shut-out and a final score of 51-35 in favor of LFL.
