Crawford Wins 2nd Straight District Title, 15 Athletes Statebound

The Crawford girls won their 2nd straight team title on Thursday at the D9 district track meet in Leyton.

The top two individual placers in each event and top relay teams advance to the state meet next weekend in Omaha.

The Rams totaled three first place finishes with Kiera Brennan taking the 800m and the 4x400m and 4x800m relay teams taking top honors. The Sioux County duo of Kailey Klein and Skylar Edmund captured first in the high jump and long jump, respectively. Edmund also added the 400m dash with a silver medal.

Britney Klein of Sioux County is off in the 800m. Dalli Anders of Crawford took 2nd in both the 100m and 200m, and Lady Rams long distance runners Madison Swanson, the 1600m, and Paityn Homan, the 3200m, will head to Omaha. Crawford’s Kylah Vogel was also a runner-up placing 2nd in the 300m hurdles.

Natalie Barry captured 2nd in the triple jump.

Wes Jacobs and Dylan Raymer of Hay Springs brought home the only area boy’s first place finishes in the 1600m and 110m hurdles.

Crawford’s Ty Brady will join Jacobs in the 1600m and Gage Mintken will follow his teammate in the 110m hurdles.

Levi Van Beek used a personal best performance in the shot put to punch his ticket to state as a runner-up.

Additional qualifiers will be released sometime on Friday.
