The Chadron State College Concert Choir and the Chadron Community Chorus join forces this afternoon for a free concert at 3:00 in Memorial Hall.

The centerpiece of the concert will see the two choirs combine to perform a jazz-flavored Catholic Mass in Latin by composer Steve Dobrogosz.

The college choir joined with the choirs from Peru State College, the University of Nebraska-Kearney, and Kearney High School in presenting the Mass last month in Kearney.

CSC Director of Vocal Music Dr Joel Schreuder, who lead both of today’s choirs, says he and the directors of the 3 eastern choirs had decided to have their groups come together and, after considerable searching and discussion, settled on the Mass.

Ever since he added the Community Chorus after the retirement of its director, Dr Una Taylor, Schreuder has had the college and community groups join together for one or two numbers to conclude each concert – occasionally a major piece like the Mass.

In addition to the Mass, the Community Chorus will perform 2 short numbers and the college choir will do 4 other selections.
