Daniel “Danny” Rasmussen – UPDATED

A Mass of Christian Burial for 13-year old Daniel “Danny” Rasmussen of Chadron, NE,will be held Friday, Jan 7, 2022 at 10:00 AM at St Patrick’s Catholic Church in Chadron.

Burial will be at the Calvary Cemetery in Chadron.

A wake service will be held Thursday, Jan 6, at 7:00 PM also at Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church. Visitation will precede the wake, starting at 4:30.

A memorial has been established. Donations can be sent to Chamberlain Chapel, PO Box 970, Chadron, NE 69337.

Daniel Vito Rasmussen was born Feb 10, 2008, in Chadron to Dwight and Catherine (Sutera) Rasmussen, joining sisters Kristin Lynn and Lauren Fia. He passed away Jan 1, 2022, also in Chadron.

Daniel was an easy-going boy who easily made friends. He was an 8th grader at Chadron Middle School and played football and baseball and was a track athlete, but since age 5 he was at heart a wrestler.

In addition to sports, he liked to drive 4-wheelers, fish, hunt, and build a multitude of projects.

Daniel is survived by his parents, Dwight and Catherine (Sutera) Rasmussen, and sisters Kristin Lynn and Lauren Fia.

He is also survived by his uncle Stuart (Julie) Rasmussen and cousins Elin Burgess, Aaron Rasmussen, Cynthia Rasmussen, and Erika Gaswick. He is also survived by his beagle Mya and black lab Kona.

Daniel was preceded in death by grandparents, William and Shirley Rasmussen and Vito and Lucille Sutera, and uncle Stephen Sutera.

Chamberlain Chapel in Chadron is in charge of arrangements for Danny Rasmussen.

  1. I am saddened by this news. I remember Dr. Surtera expecting Daniel and then when he was born coming to work with his Mom. What a cutie! I lost track of the kiddos when we moved away from the area to Hot Springs, SD. My sincere condolences to all the family at this time.

  5. I have come to believe that a parent can have no greater loss than losing a child. Our children have our hearts. They have our future. This loss reshapes our dreams and our family. Praise God for the gift of his life and the 13 years you had him. Talk about him freq. even tho he is not present he will always be a part of your family. Cherish the pictures. Allow grief to consume you. We have an awesome God. Let Him know your anger and hurt. He
