Loading

The investigation is continuing into the death of a Kearney woman who was struck and killed by a train late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning in Kearney.

Kearney police say the Union Pacific Railroad called a little after 9:00 AM to report finding the body of 34-year old Francine Lucero-Bennett beside the middle set of train tracks about 300-feet west of the Central Avenue crossing.

The initial investigation indicated Lucero-Bennett was struck sometime near midnight or in the early morning hours with the Union Pacific later helping determine she was hit by a westbound train shortly before 1:00 AM.

Investigators have not yet said how Lucero-Bennett came to be hit, and they’re asking that anyone with information about the accident contact the Kearney Police Department, Crimestoppers, or the See It Say It Send It app..
