Funeral Services for 51-year old Donald Edward Standing Bear Jr are Monday, August 9, 2021 at 1:00 at the T&T Building in Wanblee, SD, with Lay Minister Johnny Wilson officiating and traditional Lakota services by Ernest Red Elk and Calvin Red Elk
Burial is at the Gethsemane Episcopal Cemetery in Wanblee
A two-night wake service starts Saturday, August 7, at 1:00, also at the T&T Building in Wanblee, SD with evening services starting at 7:00 PM each night.
Donald Edward Standing Bear Jr was born on April 22, 1970 in Pine Ridge, SD to Rose Andrea (White Bull) Standing Bear and Joseph Rooks a.k.a. Donald Edward Standing Bear Sr. Donald Jr made his journey to the Spirit World on July 29, 2021, at the Monument Health Hospital in Rapid City, SD.
Donald was a good loving son, brother, father, uncle, and grandpa. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Tok’sa.
Donald is survived by his parents, Joseph Rooks and Rose Standing Bear; significant other, Donna Yellow Boy; daughters, Brooke and Caitlyn Standing Bear; sons, Brent, Cameron, Tanner, & Tristan Standing Bear; siblings, Rebecca, Lori, and Dana Standing Bear, Jewel Moore, Alvina, Melvin, Jr., Doreen, and Lisa White Bull; and grandchildren, Isabella, Emilio, and Emily Alvarez, Romie and Leilynn Shierbeck, and Nathan and Kaiser Standing Bear.
Donald, Jr. was preceded in death by his daughter, Tawni Standing Bear; brother, Michael Martinez; grandmother, Wanda Standing Bear; uncles, Boyd & JoJo White Bull; brother-in-law, Mike Moore; and numerous aunts, uncles, & grandparents.
Pallbearers will be Bradley Standing Bear, Richard Brown, Pete LeMay, Brian Sitting Up, Anthony Miller, David White Bull, Ferris White Bull, and Lawrence Vigil.
