Funeral services for 55-year old Donna Bad Wound are Friday, Dec 9, 2022 at 11:00 at On Common Ground Church in Rapid City, SD. with traditional Lakota services by Mr Jhon Goes In Center

A one-night wake service starts Thurs, Dec 8, at 2:00 at On Common Ground Church in Rapid City.
Donna Maria Bad Wound was born on November 12, 1967 in Pine Ridge, SD to Ralph Todd Bad Wound and Goldie Susan Standing Bear. Donna made her journey to the Spirit World on December 2, 2022 at the Monument Health Home Plus Hospice in Rapid City, SD.
Donna Maria Bad Wound was born in Pine Ridge, SD along with her twin sister, Diana Maria Bad Wound on November 12, 1967. They attended elementary school in Wanblee, SD before moving to Philip, SD, and finally attending school in Wolf Creek, SD.
Donna attended high school in Gordon, NE where she became a basketball star. Donna, along with Diana and Wrayanne, led the Gordon Broncs to defeat teams that Gordon had never ever defeated before.
Donna and Diana graduated in 1986 and moved to Lincoln, NE with another sister, Coletta. From there, Donna moved to Salt Lake City, UT and eventually to Rapid City, SD where she resided until her passing.
Donna was a very talented athlete and had the biggest heart. She found humor in everything and loved to laugh and smile. She never had one enemy because she had a personality that everyone loved.
Donna touched a lot of people in her life and will be remembered forever because she was such a positive soul.
Donna and twin Diana were the best friends/sisters with Wrayanne for over 43 years. It was a friendship/sisterhood that you do not really see nowadays, they were very blessed.
Donna has made her journey home to her sister Colettam nephew Luke and her parents Ralph and Goldie. Many hearts are broken but she is at peace now. Rest in Heaven Donna, we love you and you will forever be in our hearts.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents Ralph Bad Wound and Goldie Standing Bear; sister Colette Bad Wound; aunts Elaine and Wanda Standing Bear; uncles Howard and Stanley Standing Bear, Joey Bad Wound; cousins Keith and Ferris White Bull, Jon Standing Bear, Lou and Sandra Standing Bear, Donald Standing Bear Jr, Michael Martinez, and nephews Luke Ashmore and Baby Chase Elizondo.
Donna is survived by her twin sister Diana (Scott Halowell) Bad Wound of West Valley City, UT, sisters Kimberly (Renzel) Ashmore and Wrayanne Lamont both of Rapid City, SD, and Nanette Bad Wound; brother Michael Bad Wound of Thornton, CO; aunts Delphine Bad Wound of Thornton, CO, Joann Traversie of Cologne, MN; nieces LaTisha, Ramona, Taryn, Starrla, Madysenne, & Chloey all of Rapid City, SD, Kayla & Charlotte of West Valley City, UT; nephews Farron of Billings, MT, Antonio & Marcus of West Valley City, UT, Seth Baxter of CO, Robert Aquino of Hill City, SD, and Tayton Lamont of Rapid City, SD; cousins Donald, Leroy, Myron, and Susan Standing Bear, Alvina, Mel Jr, Doreen, and Lisa White Bull, Amanda Standing Bear, Jewel Moore, Denice Standing Bear, and Marla Day Boy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
