Eddie Ryan Lays Bad Jr “Wastela Kapi” was born on June 6, 1972 in Pine Ridge, SD to Francine (High Hawk) Running Shield and Eddie Lays Bad, Sr. Eddie made his journey to the Spirit World on May 1, 2022 at the Monument Health Hospital in Rapid City, SD.
Eddie graduated from Our Lady of Lourdes and Little Wound High School. He obtained three Associate Degrees from Oglala Lakota College; Associates of Arts, Associates of Business/Accounting, and Associates in Tribal Management. Eddie worked for the Prairie Wind Casino for 16 years and since, he has held numerous jobs.
Eddie is survived by his mother, Francine Running Shield; sisters, Stacey Tail, Lynette (Cricket) Red Owl, and Wynette High Hawk; Hunka sons, Danyion LeBeau, Michael LeBeaux, Jr. and Justin LaPointe; Hunka sister, Tashina Fast Horse; aunts and uncles, Wayne & Kathy High Hawk, Ken & Noreen Lone Elk, Phillip & Violet Good Crow, Ike & Gloria Lays Bad, Sheri High Hawk, and Delores Dreamer; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
Eddie was preceded in death by his father, Eddie Lays Bad, Sr.; paternal grandparents, George & Pauline Lays Bad; maternal grandparents, Abraham & Elizabeth High Hawk; maternal uncles, Donovan Narcis, and Melvin High Hawk; and maternal aunt, Darlene High Hawk.
Pallbearers will be Alvin LeBeaux, Abraham LeBeaux, Lester LeBeaux, Justin LaPointe, Ted LaPointe, Gary High Hawk, Stanley Flying Hawk, Jr., LaToya Feather Earring, Diamond High Wolf, Shawn Tail, Bob Morrison, and Marlin LeBeaux, Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be All Friends & Relatives.
