Funeral services for 31-year old Emerson Stone are Sunday, Sept 11, 2022, at 11:00 at the Porcupine School in Porcupine, SD, with Pastor Stanley Hollow Horn officiating and traditional Lakota services by Lenny Lone Hill 

Burial is St. Mark’s Episcopal Cemetery in Rockyford, SD

A one-night wake service starts Sat, Sept 10, at 2:30 at the Porcupine School in Porcupine.

Emerson Mitchell Stone “Wambli Numpa” was born on September 17, 1990, in Pine Ridge, SD to Roy Dean Stone Sr and Faith Two Eagle. Emerson made his journey to the Spirit World on September 1, 2022, at 7:30 PM.  

Emerson attended grade school at OLL Christian Academy and completed grade school in Batesland, SD. He attended Chemawa Indian School in Salem, OR, and spent 2 ½ years at Flandreau Indian School in Flandreau, SD, before graduating high school from Little Wound High School in 2009.  

Emerson was a very gentle and caring person who was brought into this world through a ceremony with a special calling song sung by his grandmother.  

He had a very special friend throughout his childhood with whom he spent a lot of time, his very close friend Isaiah “Beans” Beaudreau.  

Emerson is survived by his beautiful children, Dayton Lane Stone and his mother, Kiva Sam, Andrew Cash Stone and his mother, Emerald Baxter, Emily Sister Stone and Ophelia “Katy” Kate Stone and their mother, Shania Spider, Avain Yellow Eagle and his mother, Stacy Yellow Eagle; parents, Roy Dean Stone Sr and Faith Julia Two Eagle; grandmother, Eleanor Weston; sisters, Sarah Stone and Kateri Means; brothers, Roy Stone, Jr. and Johnsie Means; nieces, Brooklyn LaPointe, Elisa Means, and Lynnora Jealous; nephews, Payton Stone and Nolan Jealous; and special friend, Marina Jensen and her daughter Madison Merrival.  

Emerson was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Emerson & Gloria Stone; maternal grandfather, Theodore Two Eagle.  

Pallbearers will be Isaiah Beaudreau, Robert “Bobby” Twiss, Payton Stone, Anthony “Tony” Wounded Head, Jr., Jeremy Todd, Edward Two Eagle, Edwin Two Eagle, and Bradley Cross Dog.

Honorary pallbearers will be Little Wound Class of ’09, and numerous friends and relatives.
