A one-night wake starts Wednesday, October 20, at 1:00, also at the Little Wound House of Prayer in Kyle, SD.
Emma Turning Hawk “Tiyopa Wakan Win” ~Holy Door Woman~ was born on March 22, 1934 in Pine Ridge, SD to Charles Broken Leg and Susie (Strikes Enemy) Broken Leg. Emma made her journey to the Spirit World on October 15, 2021 in Bozeman, MT.
Emma is survived by her daughter, Cordelia (Faron) Old Horse; siblings, Dorothy Broken Leg and Viola Broken Leg; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Emma was preceded in death by her husband, Asay Turning Hawk; parents, Charles & Susie Broken Leg; daughter, Donna Turning Hawk; siblings, Jacey Broken Leg, Bertha Broken Leg, and Moses Broken Leg; and grandchildren, Janelle One Horn and Jonas Old Horse.
Pallbearers will be Darrel Little Whiteman, Acey Old Horse, Verlin Old Horse, Sonny Old Horse, Lewis Harris, Elliott Harris, Edwin Harris, Trenton Old Horse, Phillip Poor Bear, Elwin Brave Heart, Andy Martinez, and Lane Poor Bear.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Kyle Senior Citizen, University of Colorado Hospital Staff, Kyle Health Center Staff, and All Friends & Relatives.
