The FBLA – Future Business Leaders of America – Annual Leadership Conference begins tomorrow in Atlanta and KCSR/KBPY’s Jett Rasmussen is there representing Hay Springs High School and the state of Nebraska in Marketing.

Jett, who graduated last month, earned his berth in the national competition by placing 1st in the state contest, held in Kearney. The top 3 placers in each competitive event qualified for the trip to Atlanta.

Jett is one of only 5 students from the Panhandle competing at the national conference. The other 4 are from Alliance High School.

Kinzie Bridge placed 2nd in Introduction to Business Communication while the trio of Mario Rodriguez, Christian Soriano, and Mason Trumble placed 3rd in Public Service Announcement.

Hay Springs just missed qualifying 2 other students for FBLA nationals. Lillian Dorshorst was 4th in Introduction to Information Technology while Abigail Russell was 8th in Agribusiness.

FBLA is the largest business career and technical student organization in the world with over 230,000 members preparing for careers in business. Nebraska has over 140 middle school and high school chapters.

Its Mission Statement says FBLA “inspires and prepares students to become community-minded business leaders in a global society through relevant career preparation and leadership experiences.”
