Filmore Lone Girls Wrestling State Qualifier For Gordon Rushville

      Only one of the 3 Gordon-Rushville girls wrestlers qualified for state with a top 4 finish Friday at the District 4 meet in Broken Bow.

Lainey Filmore was the runner-up at 135 to earn a spot in next week’s tournament in Omaha

       Filmore pinned Sandhills/Thedford’s Shelby Schukei at the 1:52 mark in her opening round match, then posted a 14-6 major decision over Valentine’s Jessalyn Fay.  Filmore faced 36-1 Ann Marie Meiman of Omaha North in the finals and fell victim to a fall herself at 1:04. 

       Jennifer Banister at 130 and Kirsten Heck at 140 were both eliminated in the consolation semifinals. 

       Banister lost 7-3 to Conestoga’s Kyler Zimmerman in the quarterfinals, won her first consolation match with a 1:59 fall over Myka Petersen of Minden, and dropped a 9-2 decision in the consolation semifinals to finish the season 27-9.

      Heck was pinned by Sidney’s Izabelle Owens at 3:06 of her first match, bounced back with an 8-2 decision over Sara Anaya from Lexington, then was pinned in 1:49 by Ellie Scoville of Sumner-Eddyville-Miller. Heck ends the season 28-9
